So the New Hampshire Senate has passed the bill leagalizing gay marriage. Now the Governor just has to sign it. Which hopefully he will do.
Unfortunately, Governor Lynch has opposed same-sex marriage in the past (although he is for civil unions). So we shall see.
It would be another important step forward if the bill passed. One more state added to the pile. It's embarrassing that we're supposed to be a progressive country and yet we're not on board, when other countries in the world are (and have been for years in some cases).
Also, Vermont (my home state) will legalize them starting September 1st.

Happy Earth Day.
After classes, I'm going into town - they're doing some tree planting, if anyone wants to come with. There will also be some river clean up going on, for anyone who would prefer that.
And Miss Foster's going to be doing some gardening and stuff out back if anyone wants to help her out with that.

The phones are ringing off the hook, the system is being flooded with e-mails, and I'm pretty sure I saw some carrier pigeons coming the way of the school.
No, not really on the last one.
Here's what we know - not a whole lot. The person who threw the bomb (one of those Molotov cocktail homemade jobs) has been apprehended, taken into police custody, identified - and as far as anyone here can tell, none of us know him, or have any connection with him. We haven't gone through asking all the students yet. Apparently, he's not talking much.
While there were some injuries, they were mostly minor - some small burns, some cuts, bruises, some smoke inhalation. Everyone will be fine, so please, no one worry about that.
People are wondering why live footage isn't all over the news yet? I may have scrambled the news vans when they came with their cameras. Replace 'may have' with 'definitely did'. They'll be back, but the students will be back inside and in privacy by then.
Oh, and classes are cancelled for tomorrow while we ventilate the first floor since it reeks of smoke and gasoline right now.

I forgot to mention is my last entry - we're also going to be getting resuable, stainless steel water bottles with the Zener logo. I'd urge everyone who is a water drinker (and doesn't already have a metal reusable bottle - without plastic lining) to get one. Plastic bottles are horrible for the environment and a ridiculous number are used and thrown away a year. And these ones will be relatively inexpensive too!
Anyway.
Thanks everyone for the birthday wishes and gifts yesterday. Maverick gave me a hammock (made from recycled material, natch) and I'm tempted to hang it up in the computer lab. In my office. But then I'd never get anything done.
Tonight it's out with the over-21 friends. Yes, teachers have lives too. Shocking.

We're getting ready to put in the order for Zener Wear for the year. T-shirts, hoodies, jogging pants and beanie hats. They'll all have the Zener crest on them and all that - well, if you've seen any from past years, you'll know what they'll look like. Except a little bit different. New year and all that.
Also, the Seniors will be getting their grad shirts, don't worry. I have the stencile of the '09 and it's going to be going around classes this week - all Seniors, make sure you sign it. If you don't get it in class, come to the computer lab and I'll have it here.

My friends are weird. Case in point:
- One wears fuzzy orange pants and I think is having an affair with a cat.
- One thinks math jokes are hilarious and has injury-accidents even while sleeping.
- One is in love with her car and thinks kicking a guy is flirting.
- One is about two days away from permanently fusing with a sofa and I'm pretty sure manages to live on McDonalds.
And then there's Jaz and Nadya who are weird in that they act more like parents every single day!
So apparently I am drawn to strange people.

It looks like we got through the break without any shenangians. At least any major shenanigans. Which is a bonus.
Last year, someone ended up flooding the kitchen. I won't name any names. I don't think I have to name any names do I Eli?
One of the perks about being a vegetarian (aside from the obvious lack of animal slaughter and cruelty) is that there is almost always leftovers. Plenty of delicious leftovers to enjoy. I took the rest of the pan of eggplant casserole back to my room and I'm holding it hostage. Or, you know, eating it all until it's gone. Not all at once though.

Teachers get excited for March Break too!
I know I'm looking forward to it. A week of minimal work. Just some marking and lesson plans. And network stuff.
But sleeping in will be nice. I'm not going anywhere, as I'm stuck here. Which I really don't mind. We're supposed to have some decent weather, so I'm draggingout the barbecue as much as possible this week and doing veggie burgers and veggie dogs. And veggies. Kabobs.
They're breaking ground for the garage this weekend. As tempting as it is, stay out of the cement when they start pouring the foundation!!

Well at least they're not demanding that we all wear a Scarlet P when we go out in town. I'm not really surprised by the reaction of some people in town - humans tend to fear what they don't understand, that's nothing new. And they tend to discriminate against anything different try being gay, that's nothing new either. Everything needs to fit in a neat little box. Human nature at it's 'finest'.
As long as they don't come with pitchforks and flaming torches, I'd say we're okay.
But just incase, I'm going to go check the fire extinguishers. (A joke. That was a joke!)

Very little interest in the film contest idea, so I'm guessing that's going to be a no go? It's too bad, last year there were some great short films made.
Amory, Nadya, Bellamy, Rufus, etc (and Jaz) ---> next Friday our favourite tattoo artist has a birthday, what are we doing? (And Jaz, you'd better not say you're working. Or else).

Teachers like long weekends too. I know I do. It was nice to have that extra day after all the snowboarding. Really is quite a work out, especially when you spend near ten hours up on the hill one day and six hours the next. Isaiah falling down was funny
Now back to the grind. Computer III, you're going to start working on video game design this week, so start thinking of ideas. Obviously these will be smaller games, otherwise you could be designing for months. You'll be betaing each others when they time comes.
I think we (all the students, not just my Computer kids) should do some video editing and have a short film contest. I have several digital video cameras down in the lab that people could sign out. And all the computers here have editing software. Pinacle and Windows Movie Maker. Could get others if people had a preference.
Just like two weeks till The Watchmen. I'm going to see if I can find a bootleg copy. I can't wait that long. Oh, don't try that at home kids. Pirating movies is bad.

I've decided to make some lightsabres. Well replicas, because obviously they won't be able to cut through anything. Although I'm going to make them semi-functional. Different styles. Colours. It will be a good fun side project.
Trevor, Emily, Iggy --> Mav and I need our minions. We're going to be doing tests on the sensor network for the wall. Which will involve throwing things at it, dropping things on it, seeing how sensitive it is. Also mimicking various weathers to see how they affect the system. And wear and tear. And trying to dismantle it to see if there are any flaws. I'm thinking Monday, since I'll be away on the ski trip this weekend. Good?

Maverick and I are working on making some bugs. Not insects, but listening devices. These ones also have minuature visual recording devices in them as well.
They look like bugs. Insects, that is. So if you see one, please please don't crush it. We're working on the remote control mechanisms, so we're flying them around the school. Their output feeds into my computer and it's sad when they 'die'. Someone stepped on one earlier, and 'Dragonfly 3 is dead' flashed across my screen. Tragic, really tragic.
Hmmm maybe we should make a mosquito that can actually draw blood. Not that I have need to collect DNA samples or anything, but it could come in handy. Someday. Somehow.

I'm starting to feel better. My daeh feels less cluttered. And I can almost write/speak properly niaga.
Almost.
Computer classes will be back to normal no Monday.
Ski trip is next dnekeew weekend. We'll leave Friday ta lunchtime and head to Attitash.. Yes, you get to ssim miss afternoon classes. We'll get there for an evening ski. And will have all day/night Saturday and all day yadnus Sunday. We'll leave Attitash around 4 in the afternoon and be back in the evening. Chaperons will be there so no shenanigans. Well, no big shenanigans yawyna anyway.

Maverick and I are getting a truck to trick out. Or a car. We need to decide this, Maverick. And start hunting the junk lots to find one. Whatever it is, I want to put a hybrid engine in it.
The garage is going to start going up in the spring when the ground thaws. Easier. The wall, however, is going up soon. Well, you've all probably noticed the crew down there digging up the ground for the foundation. Oh, someone asked - the wall is going to go all around campus, including the woods. It will be a more standard metal fencing towards the back and through the woods, but with the same sensors on it, which will all feed into the security system.
I think I'm going to start rereading The Sprawl triology tonight. For about the twelfth time.
